Research, Write, Teach, Repeat.

Welcome to My Site.

I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Psychology after over 20 years of experience working with children. I am curious about the cognitive processes involved in emotion regulation (ER) and how emotions impact our cognition and decision-making. I am also interested in the neurological processes underlying the development of ER (inhibition, Theory of Mind, cognitive flexibility) in healthy and at-risk populations, particularly during childhood and adolescence, as well as the conditions that underlie pathological risk (socioeconomic conditions, safe access to green spaces, familial risk, etc.). I enjoy researching and learning about the socialization of children within their families, diverse communities, and cultures. Finally, I am very interested in the development of language processing and expression.

My clinical practice and research have focused on the family unit, including the socialization and culture of ER practices. I've enjoyed my career as a behavior analyst, working with neurodiverse populations, but I am ready for the next step: obtaining my PhD. I want to focus on research, teaching, and writing (which I've developed a passion for throughout my clinical and research experiences).

About Me

My name is Marcia Questel, and I am a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). As a BCBA, I've collected thousands of pieces of data, conducted data analysis, and created individualized, data-driven, evidence-based treatment plans for neurodiverse children and adults. I focus on the whole family unit and uphold the best that science has to offer, with culturally sensitive and compassionate care. Using visual and statistical analyses, I have supported the learning potential, speech, behavior, and emotion regulation of dozens of clients between the ages of 18 months and 24 years old. Now, I want to take what I've learned and begin a new path in academia. My research experiences can be found below.
